Who offers what here
Fablewerk is a service that turns an idea into a complete book — as text, with a cover and with narration. Who runs it is stated in the legal notice.
These terms apply to everyone who creates an account or reads a book published here, in the version shown on this page at the time of purchase.
Account
Writing a book needs an account. Your credentials are yours alone; whoever passes them on is answerable for what happens with them.
You can delete your account yourself at any time. Your books, bookmarks and highlights go with it; purchase and payment records stay for as long as commercial and tax law require.
Credits, prices, payment
- Payment is in credits. A book costs 30 credits and includes the full text, a generated cover and the narration.
- An outline preview costs 1 credit per generation. A call that fails costs nothing, and looking at an outline you already have costs nothing either.
- Extras on a book — more words, images, a glossary, a re-check — cost the credits shown on the estimate before you release the outline.
- Credits do not expire and are not exchanged back into money.
- Prices are on the pricing page, in the currency shown there. Which VAT is included is stated on the receipt for the purchase.
When a contract for a book comes about
For credits: when the payment is confirmed. For a book: at the moment you release the chapter outline. Until then nothing is charged except the outline itself, and you can see in full what is going to be written.
The book is then written in the background. How far along it is, and what it is doing, is on the run’s own page.
Right of withdrawal for digital content
Consumers have a fourteen-day right of withdrawal. For digital content it lapses early where performance begins with express consent and the customer confirms that they thereby lose that right (§ 356(5) German Civil Code).
Performance begins here when you release the outline: that is what starts the writing. As long as that confirmation has not expressly been asked of you at that point, your right of withdrawal stands — just write to us.
For credits you have bought and not yet spent, the fourteen days apply in any case.
If a run breaks off
If a run breaks off before a book exists, the credits charged for it are returned. A run that never starts costs nothing.
Every charge and every refund appears with its reason in the statement in settings. If something is missing there or looks wrong, write to us — it is the fastest way to sort it out.
Who owns the book
You do. Download your books, publish them, give them away, sell them. We keep no rights in your stories and need none.
What we need is permission to store your book and show it to you for as long as your account exists — without it there would be no shelf. Publishing a book to the library adds permission to show it there; withdrawing it ends that.
The texts are written by AI models. Whether, and how far, such a text is protected by copyright is not settled — so what we promise is that we claim no rights, not which rights you have.
What you may not have written
We do not review books in advance. If such a use comes to our attention, we may remove the book from the library and suspend the account.
- Content that breaks the law — in particular incitement to hatred, depictions of violence, and sexualised depictions of minors.
- Texts that pass real people off as their authors, or that put recognisable real people into invented actions that harm them.
- Prompts that reproduce someone else’s work so closely that the result is a copy.
Availability
We take care to keep the service running but promise no particular availability. Maintenance, outages at providers we rely on, and models being discontinued do happen. Paid work lost to any of that is refunded.
Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for harm to life, body or health. For ordinary negligence we are liable only for breaching essential obligations without which this contract could not work, and then limited to the foreseeable damage typical of such a contract.
Books are written by machine. They can contain errors, contradictions and inventions — a run reports what it found itself, and it does not find everything. Anyone publishing such a book checks it first.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms when the service changes or the law requires it. For a book, the version in force when you released its outline applies. Material changes are announced in your account.
Final provisions
German law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory protections of the country you live in are unaffected.
If a provision is invalid, the rest stays in force.
